Thank you for visiting the Contemporary OB/GYN website, and for following along with our coverage of the 2025 American College of Obstetrics & Gynecology (ACOG) Annual Clinical & Scientific Meeting held in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

We spoke with multiple experts at the conference about topics ranging from individualized vasomotor symptom treatment to advancements in diabetes monitoring and treatment. This recap video will highlight some of the discussion points from our interviews with presenters at the meeting.

Our discussion with Erin Keyser, MD, FACOG, Brooke Army Medical Center, provided an overview of individualized vasomotor symptom management. Keyser highlighted a case with a woman using a Mirena intrauterine device during perimenopause or menopause. The data indicated this option would remain effective for 5 to 6 years.

Next, Laxmi Gannu, MS, senior manager, real world evidence at Sage Therapeutics, highlighted her study about postpartum depression knowledge among providers. The data highlighted gaps in screening practices and inconsistencies in referral and follow-up.

We also spoke with Megan Cohen, MD, MPH, assistant professor in the Division of Complex Family Planning at Emory University School of Medicine, who discussed the 2024 CDC contraceptive guidelines. These guidelines included updates to focus on patient autonomy, shared decision making, and person-centered care.

Additionally, Tia Welsh, MD, MPH, FACOG, chair of Women’s Services at Valley Medical Group, spoke about the advantages of primary HPV screening. This method allows clinicians to reach populations who hadn’t been screened before, extending their reach by over 30%.

From there, we heard from Victoria Wang, MD, gynecology oncology fellow at Brigham & Women's Hospital, about surveillance trends after treatment for high-grade dysplasia. These patients have recurrence rates of up to 25%, highlighting the need to complete guideline-concordant care.

Finally, we spoke with Amy Valent, DO, MCR, associate professor in the Maternal-Fetal Medicine Division at Oregon Health & Science University, about advancements in prenatal diabetes technology. This includes new glucose monitoring options and treatment options such as insulin smart pens.
