Both types of surgery are complimentary. Each has specific advantages and indications. It is an advantage to have and to be able to use both.

Both types of surgery are complimentary. Each has specific advantages and indications. It is an advantage to have and to be able to use both.

Laser surgery has advantages for endometriosis surgery, especially typical and deep endometriosis, and less for cystic ovarian endometriosis. It probably causes less adhesions because of its physical properties and because surgery is faster with less blood loss.

Since laser surgery requires a high flow insufflator and a more complex setup laser surgery has been less demonstrated at congresses. Moreover a laser remains expensive.

 

Electrosurgery is more versatile and is mandatory for dissection.
