This fall, the National Association of Chain Drug Stores (NACDS) will launch a national awareness campaign for flu vaccinations.
Its purpose is to avoid overrunning the health care system amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Prescription savings service SingleCare reported an approximate 14,000% increase in demand for Fluzone Quadrivalent during the weeks of July 27 to August 9 when compared with the same weeks in 2019, according to flu vaccine data.
“Adding to the challenge of defeating COVID-19 is a flu season that is rapidly approaching and presenting the possibility of a two-front public health war,” said NACDS President and CEO Steven C. Anderson in a news release.1 “We need to call on Americans to do what they can right now to protect themselves and to protect their loved ones, and getting their flu vaccinations is a vital part of that.”
