Research is the challenging process aiming at the knowledge of truth. It involves our past, is supported by individual aspirations and needs and could be responsible for our own future, for that of other people and for the future of the surrounding environment.
My own sequence in research methodology is reported below. Although the sequence itself can help in the research process, every step will be analyzed at depth in forthcoming articles.
This on-line course, written for OBGYN.NET, is fully dedicated to younger trainees and postgraduates aiming to reach the core of knowledge.

Sections INTRODUCTORY ASPECTS
After the first chapter, which might put you off research forever, the second and the third will bring you back inside the researching process and are a summary of what is reported in the following section, so you don’t need to wait until the end of the on-line book making in order to start.
BASIC ASPECTS
In this section the researching process is analyzed at depth, step-by-step, from the idea generating the research to the wide range of research results presenting.
PARTICULAR ASPECTS
Although the basic research process can be simply applied to Obstetrics and Gynecology, in this section all the particular aspects of the research process in Ob-Gyn main fields are reported.
ORGANIZATIONAL ASPECTS
This last section is related to the organizational problems you have to face in performing multiple and/or multicentric research. The last chapter is a collection of research related subjects not included in the previous sections.
Chapters and paragraphs
Each chapter reports the related subject as in the index. According to the different needs, a chapter could be divided into paragraphs numbered as 1.1., 1.2, and so on. Each chapter has been drafted as in the “lorem ipsum” chapter (see below).
Tables and Figures
Tables refer to the chapter; eg.: tab. 1.1, means the first table of the first chapter. The same applies to the figures.
To overcome problems in the HTML version and to avoid slow download, all the chapter figures are linked to a different window; open it at the beginning of the chapter reading and reduce the window to icon, so you can go there whenever you need.
Tip Points
This is a “short sentences review” of the chapter subject, underlining the main concepts involved.
Quoted Sentences
This is a collection of quotations from other people, underlining, directly or undirectly, the relevant concepts in the chapter.
