The Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine (SMFM) will partner with the Preeclampsia Foundation to host the President’s Workshop on Preeclampsia during SMFM’s 41st Annual Pregnancy Meeting, being held virtually today through Saturday.
The Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine (SMFM) will partner with the Preeclampsia Foundation to host the President’s Workshop on Preeclampsia from Jan. 25-26. This two-day workshop will offer an in-depth look at how practitioners can predict, prevent, and manage preeclampsia in pregnancy.
The workshop will cover a wide range of relevant topics, including how to better determine at-risk mothers, implications on future cardiovascular health, impacts on long-term mental health, and more. Spreading awareness is crucial, says Preeclampsia Foundation CEO Eleni Z. Tsigas, because many preeclampsia symptoms can occur during a healthy pregnancy which can cause them to be overlooked.
The partnering organizations will also host a Twitter chat, “Let’s Talk about Pregnancy Complications,” with the parenting website BabyCenter, on Jan. 26 at 3 p.m. EST. Women will share personal stories to help spread awareness of preeclampsia and advocate critical warning signs.
