Daré Bioscience has launched Flora Sync LF5, a non-prescription vaginal probiotic capsule containing Limosilactobacillus fermentum LF5.

On July 1, 2026, Daré Bioscience, Inc. announced the commercial availability of a vaginal probiotic capsule, Flora Sync LF5 (Dare to Restore; Daré Bioscience), through the company's direct-to-consumer platform, the DARE Health Hub, without a prescription.1

The non-hormonal vaginal capsule is formulated with Limosilactobacillus fermentum LF5, a probiotic strain originally isolated from the vaginal microbiome of healthy women. The product is manufactured by Probiotical S.p.A. under current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) standards and is intended for women experiencing vaginal dryness, irritation or itching, unwanted odor or excess discharge, or microbiome disruption following antibiotic use, hormonal shifts, intimacy, travel, new products, or elevated stress.1 It is available at $49 per box, which contains 6 capsules formatted as 2 courses of a 3-day regimen.1

Supporting clinical data

The product is supported by a single-blind, randomized controlled clinical trial of 100 premenopausal women diagnosed with vulvovaginal candidiasis (VVC), published in Frontiers in Microbiology in 2024.2 The trial compared Limosilactobacillus fermentum LF5 capsules (1 × 10⁹ CFU/dose) with standard-of-care miconazole (400 mg/dose), each administered once daily for 3 consecutive days, with all participants assed for 2 weeks after the end of the treatment period.2

Both treatments achieved high rates of microbiological eradication of Candida spp. within the 3-day treatment period, with 96% eradication in the LF5 group and 94% in the miconazole group.2 Recurrence rates within 2 weeks post-treatment were low in both groups, with 10% of LF5-treated patients experiencing recurrence compared with 17% in the miconazole group (P = 0.372).2

“LF5 was found to have a significantly lower incidence of local adverse reactions compared to miconazole (4 vs. 12%),” wrote the study investigators, who concluded in the study that “LF5 presents a viable alternative to miconazole for the treatment of VVC, offering comparable efficacy with fewer side effects. The results suggest that probiotic treatments can potentially enhance patient compliance and quality of life by reducing adverse reactions and recurrence rates. Further research is needed to confirm these findings in larger and more diverse populations.”

Daré reported positive interim safety and efficacy results in May 2026 from its phase 3 study of Ovaprene, an investigational monthly, hormone-free intravaginal contraceptive, and initiated a phase 2 study of DARE-HPV, a pharmacologic treatment for persistent high-risk human papillomavirus infection, in the same month.1 The company also anticipates commencing dispensing of sildenafil cream, a topical formulation for female arousal, through the DARE Health Hub later in the summer of 2026.1
