To answer that question, clinicians from Robert Wood Johnson University Medical Group's Division of Obstetrics and Gynecology surveyed 1,039 women delivering at their facility, 60% of who responded.
Top-rated criteria for choosing a practice, in descending order, included the reputation of the practice, acceptance of their insurance plan, continuity of care, phone access to physicians, and convenience of office hours. A physician's gender and ethnic background were of minor concern.
