NIH Offers Grant Extensions for Grantees Affected by COVID-19

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) announced that it will offer grant extensions to eligible grantees affected by COVID-19.

The COVID-19 pandemic, and subsequent mitigation measures, have severely impacted progress in the field of medical research. In support of early-career scientists, NIH is allowing NIH Fellowship and NIH Career Development award recipients the opportunity to request no-cost extensions and funded extensions.

Requests should outline how the COVID-19 pandemic has adversely impacted the grant recipient’s training and career development. NIH and authorized organization officials will consider requests on a case-by-case basis, subject to the availability of funds.
