Previewing ACOG's 75th Annual Clinical & Scientific Meeting

2026 marks the 75th anniversary of the American College of Obstetricians & Gynecologists Annual Clinical & Scientific Meeting, this time taking place in the nation’s capital.

From late-breaking data sessions, clinical poster sessions, oral abstracts, a worldwide collection of women’s health care clinicians, and a special keynote address from former First Lady Michelle Obama, ACOG 75 will certainly not disappoint.

Contemporary OB/GYN staff will be on location to bring you the latest updates from the meeting, paired with over 20 expert interviews across a number of topics, from menopause, adolescent gynecology, recaps of the latest updated guidelines from the women’s health society, and much more.

The meeting, taking place May 1-3, 2026, at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C., will feature for the first time “member-requested focus areas reflecting important shifts shaping our field,” the society noted.1

The Donald F. Richardson Memorial Lecture: Menopause and Sexual Health

This session will provide a focused overview of current, evidence-supported strategies for addressing sexual health concerns during menopause. Topics include the diagnosis and management of genitourinary syndrome of menopause (GSM), hypoactive sexual desire disorder, and the safe use of hormonal and non-hormonal therapies. Attendees will leave with practical tools to enhance patient-centered care and improve quality of life for midlife and older women.2

The Latest and Greatest Guidance Updates

In this session, David I. Shalowitz, MD, MSHP, Akiva Pesach Novetsky, MD, MS, Kimberly Sauchak Gecsi, MD, Britton Delaney Rink, MD, Samuel Thomas Bauer, MD, and Nazanin Ahmadieh, DO, will present on the most recent updates in gynecologic and obstetric care, focused on the latest clinical evidence and care recommendations for 3 impactful areas. Subject matter experts will present on3:

  • Updates in Postmenopausal Bleeding Evaluation: Latest evidence comparing ultrasound and endometrial sampling for optimal diagnostic accuracy.
  • Updates in Cervical Cancer Screening: Updated guidelines and recommendations shaping current practice.
  • Updates in Screening for Fetal Chromosomal Abnormalities: In collaboration with SMFM, presenting updated guidance regarding screening for fetal chromosomal abnormalities screening.

Menopause and Vasomotor Symptoms

In this session, Jill Liss, MD, of Aurora, Colorado, will highlight a comprehensive overview of current, evidence-supported strategies for managing vasomotor symptoms—such as hot flashes and night sweats—that affect up to 80% of menopausal women. Topics will include hormonal therapies (HT), non-hormonal pharmacologic options (e.g., SSRIs, SNRIs, gabapentin), and emerging treatments like neurokinin receptor antagonists. Attendees will gain practical guidance for tailoring care to individual patient needs, including considerations for contraindications and shared decision-making.4
