In this educational tutorial, a patient had a diagnostic laparoscopy done by an inexperienced laparoscopist. When the patient presented, she had multiple sinuses around the umbilicus and was taking antibiotics without any benefit.

In a recent study published in the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Dr Strand and colleagues found that behavioral interviewing techniques may be useful in predicting success of a candidate in residency. Here, Dr Strand shares some tips for graduating medical students who are preparing for residency interviews.

With increasing rates of women at high risk for stroke due to obesity, congenital heart disease, and autoimmune disorders, there is a growing concern about stroke during pregnancy. In fact, the World Health Organization (WHO) has chosen stroke during pregnancy and the postpartum period as an area of special interest; WHO is considering labeling stroke as a life-threatening obstetric complication and as a condition that may make unintended pregnancy an unacceptable health risk.
