Yale New Haven Hospital ranks “high performing” for maternity care
Yale New Haven Hospital [YNHH] has received the highest overall rating for maternity care in U.S. News & World Report’s latest listing for 2025.
YNHH recently received the “high performing” rating for fewer C-sections, fewer severe newborn complications, higher lactation numbers, its support for vaginal birth after Cesarean, low rates of episiotomies [a cut made in the vagina during childbirth], its “birthing-friendly” practices, and transparency with racial/ethnic disparities.
“This is an honor, but not a surprise,” says Hugh Taylor, MD, Anita O’Keefe Professor and Chair at Yale School of Medicine and chief of obstetrics and gynecology at YNHH. “We have a committed team that aims to provide the best and safest experience for parents and babies every day.”
According to U.S. News & World Report, YNHH “met high standards for each of the quality/objective metrics in a detailed survey U.S. News administered.”
More than 800 hospitals nationwide were evaluated for maternity care as part of the review.
